
Background
We represented the New York State Dental Association one of the largest state constituents of the American Dental Association with more than 13,000 dentists. This association provides a range of programs to support its members and the profession. We provided public relations counsel and media placement services to increase awareness about the importance of maintaining good oral health from birth through adulthood to consumers throughout New York State. Also, we worked to foster goodwill for the organization among its members.
We arranged dozens of media interviews for the dentists serving as spokespeople. We promoted events such as “Dial-A-Smile” and National Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDHM). We also developed a contest we named “Sugarless Wednesday” in conjunction with NCDHM and sought a corporate sponsor.
Results
Millions of consumers in New York were informed about the importance of maintaining good oral health with numerous stories placed in New York state’s media outlets.
We secured product sponsorship from Procter & Gamble for the “Sugarless Wednesday” contest.
Our efforts greatly increased visibility for the NYSDA and the important role it plays in dental health education for the general public.
